I know the power of a community working together. As a member of the IMPACT Board, I was part of the effort that brought over 1300 people to the Martin Luther King, Jr.Center on March 15, 2007 to discusss affordable housing and transportation. I will take a regional approach to solving our community's problems:
- Affordable Housing
- Transportation (Read about the Issues)
- Public Safety
- Parks and Recreation
- Economic Development and Good Jobs
In talking with many citizens in both the City and the County, I have heard again and again that they expect their public officials and governments to work together – in good faith - to seek solutions that are beneficial for everyone. I am committed to seeking collaborative solutions to improve the lives of all our citizens. I will build on my experience working with our county neighbors and the University to create workable regional solutions.
As a member of City Council, my goals will be to:
- Support a regional transportation authority to address our traffic woes
- Promote a regional approach to the affordable housing crisis with measurable results
- Promote collaboration with our neighbors on public safety and recreation
- Promote economic development that will provide career ladder jobs and broaden our tax base
