I believe that all our children need to have the knowledge and skills that will help them to be productive citizens. I have served as Chairman of the Charlottesville School Board, CATEC Board Chairman, Executive Director of the Charlottesville Area School Business Alliance (CASBA), and as a member of the Piedmont Workforce Network Board. I know that a quality education leads to good career opportunities. I will work to expand opportunities so that students graduate with work-readiness skills. We must work together to ensure that ALL Charlottesville students are well prepared to be productive citizens.
As a member of City Council, my goals will be to:
- Create opportunities for our youth to receive a 21st century education so they can fully participate in the global economy
- Expand opportunities for all Charlottesville students to graduate with work-readiness skills because everyone needs to be prepared to go to work
- Support adequate funding for public education to reach its potential
- Build on the relationship between City Council and the School Board as equally elected bodies
